💀 Why They’re Not Growing:
- Too deep: If buried whole, they may suffocate before sprouting.
- Too dry: Underground pits dry out quickly without consistent moisture.
- Wrong conditions: They prefer warm, humid, tropical conditions to germinate.
- No prep: Unlike compost scraps, pits need a little prep to sprout - like that classic “toothpicks in water” trick.
🥑 Want to Sprout One for Real?
Here’s the old-school method:
- Rinse the pit clean.
- Insert 3 toothpicks into the sides.
- Suspend over a jar of water (bottom half in water).
- Put it somewhere warm and bright.
- Wait 4–8 weeks for roots to emerge.
But full warning: Even if it sprouts, it can take years to fruit - if it ever does. Also, it might do nothing at all, I know I've tried it!
