Just Because It Is Natural Doesn’t Mean It Is Safe 🌱⚠

✋ Just Because It's Natural Doesn’t Mean It’s Safe 🌱⚠

Let’s get one thing straight, crunchy fam: the word natural does not automatically mean safe. In fact, some of the most toxic, gut-twisting, knock-you-out-cold things on Earth are 100% organic, plant-based, and wildcrafted by Mother Nature herself.

Yep. Buckle up.

🦠 Botulism? Natural.

Clostridium botulinum bacteria are found in soil and water and can survive boiling temperatures. That little bugger can cause muscle paralysis and even death. You know where it loves to grow? Improperly canned veggies and “natural” home food preservation gone wrong.
🥴 One mason jar mishap away from a full-blown biohazard.

🐔 Salmonella? Natural.

That chicken poop in your backyard compost? Cute, crunchy, and full of salmonella. You know what else carries it? Raw eggs, unwashed produce, reptiles, and backyard chickens that walk through their own 💩.
🥚 “Farm fresh” shouldn’t mean “digestive roulette.”

💩 E. coli? Oh, she’s natural too.

Especially when you’re using cow or human poop as “fertilizer” without fully composting it. This gut-wrecking bacteria can cause kidney failure and major food poisoning.
🍓 Fresh-picked strawberries grown in dillo dirt? Nah, I'm good.

🌿 Poison Ivy? Deadly Nightshade? Hemlock?

All of them? Super natural. All of them? Super not welcome in your garden tea. You wouldn’t put poison ivy in your kid’s salve just because it grows wild, right? Right.
🌱 Not all herbs are your herb besties.

🧠 Natural ≠ Harmless

This trend of “if it’s natural it’s perfect” needs a serious reality check. Cyanide is natural. Lead is natural. Arsenic? Also natural. The Earth is amazing, but she doesn’t play. She makes medicine and poison - sometimes from the same plant.

Being a conscious, holistic, and crunchy mama means using discernment, not just chasing labels.

🔍 Crunchy Wisdom Check-In:

  • Always research herbs, essential oils, and wild plants before using them.
  • Just because it’s on Etsy doesn’t mean it’s safe.
  • Ask where your compost came from. (And no, poop from sewage sludge doesn’t belong in your garden.)
  • Make sure your natural remedies are rooted in safe practices, not just social media hype.

✨ Natural Should Mean Educated

Let’s reclaim the word “natural” for what it should mean - hole, mindful, and well-informed. We’re not here to fear-monger. We’re here to empower. Because yes, natural living is beautiful - but not if it lands you in the ER with a full-body rash or food poisoning from that “all-natural” salad dressing you made with unpasteurized ingredients and a Pinterest recipe. 🌿💁‍♀️
